The TCRA revealed benefits of Tanzania's participation in the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC), which took place in Dubai from November 20 to December 15. Tanzania secured additional spectrum for the deployment of 5G internet, a new orbital slot for a broadcasting satellite, and the possibility of deploying communication equipment in lower earth orbit.
On February 6th, President Mwinyi of Zanzibar and US health leaders will meet global investors and experts to discuss improving cancer care across Africa. This meeting is part of a bigger effort to build a state-of-the-art cancer treatment center in Tanzania that will serve all of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Government of Tanzania (GoT) distributed 222 cages and 55 boats to fishers in Lake Victoria regions. Experts believe cage fishing, particularly for tilapia, will increase exports and processing, while more research is needed to realize similar benefits for Nile Perch. The shift from subsistence to surplus fish production is expected to contribute 10% to Tanzania's GDP by 2036. It will also attract investment and job creation in fish processing industries.
Tanzania, led by Minister of Minerals Anthony Mavunde, will participate in the Mining Indaba in Cape Town for the first time. A special "Country Showcase" event will highlight the nation's mineral wealth and aims to attract foreign investors. According to event organizers, the “Mining Indaba is where the African mining value chain comes together.”
